KATZENELSON, BARUCH
KATZENELSON, BARUCH (1900–1968), Hebrew and Yiddish poet. Born in Slutsk, Belorussia, Katzenelson moved in 1922 to the U.S., where he studied and taught Hebrew. In 1934 he settled in Israel, where he lived in Kefar Sava and taught high school from 1939 to 1965. From the age of 13, he wrote in both Yiddish and Hebrew. Between 1919 and 1926 Katzenelson published poetry and literary criticism in Yiddish. From 1925 on his Hebrew poetry again appeared, and was published in most of the literary forums in the United States and Israel. His books of poetry are: Le-Or ha-Ner (1930), Be-Kur Demamah (1948), and Mi-Lev el Lev (1954). Yehudah Ereẓ and Avraham M.
